Graduating with high standards at the Bluestone Academy

Guest satisfaction is a top priority here at Bluestone National Park Resort. That’s why we invest a great deal in staff training and development.

This year we launched the inaugural Bluestone Skills Build Academy in partnership with Pembrokeshire College to train three unemployed people with the skills needed to work in the tourism industry.

We’re pleased to announce that all three attained their NVQ in customer service as well as an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the high standards expected at a five-star luxury short-break destination such as Bluestone.

Blue Lagoon lifeguards impress with their skills

We’re very proud of the lifeguards who work at the Blue Lagoon waterpark here at Bluestone National Park Resort. And we have even more reason to be after one of them was named the best lifeguard in a recent competition.

Lifeguards are constantly on duty at Blue Lagoon making sure everyone has a great time enjoying the splashtastic water features. Recently some of the lifeguards took part in the Cardiff Invitational Lifeguard Competition 2011 held at Pentwyn Leisure Centre, Cardiff.

The event attracted teams from Eastern, Fairwater, Western, Maindy Pentwyn and Llanishen Leisure Centres, as well as external squads from Blue Lagoon at Bluestone and the Vale of Glamorgan.

Each team was required to complete five modules over six hours that challenge the competitor’s physical and mental abilities. They included a team row, multi skills test, first aid incident, pool emergency incident and a team torpedo buoy relay.

As part of our ethos towards staff development we provide a range of training packages in-house and work a number of  external organisations to ensure our staff have the best skills possible in a range of vocations.
