Get into the free range summer festival mood with Ryan Jones

It’s all about summer festival fun here at Bluestone this August. But don’t just take our word for it… Welsh rugby international and Ospreys No.8 Ryan Jones has been finding out for himself, and he loved it.

Our Summer Festival is all about getting the family together for some free range fun activities and enjoying the carnival atmosphere in the spectacular 500 acres of Pembrokeshire countryside we have here.

Ryan decided to come to Bluestone after his hectic rugby season – what with the Six Nations and all that – and the Wales tour Down Under. What better way to relax and recover than a luxury short break at Bluestone National Park Resort!

“When you’ve been playing all season, then having the Six Nations Grand Slam success before the tour Down Under, there comes a time when you just need to say ‘right, we’re getting away to chill.’ And that’s what we’ve done at Bluestone,” said Ryan.

“But as usual I can’t sit still and the preparations for the Bluestone Summer Festival looked like a bit of an opportunity to have some fun. We’ve been trying out the samba drum session which is just great – plenty of energy used and a lot of fun – as well as loads of other activities.”

He added: “A week away from it all and it puts everything back in to perspective. Chilling with a few cheeky drinks, a splash about in the Blue Lagoon waterpark, some great food, and a bit of a treat at The Well Spa. Well, we all need some TLC. And I know the other lads and their families will be doing the same.”

From samba drumming, coracle racing, street dance and all kinds of messy fun for the little ones, there’s a host activities that’ll suit everyone. And these all culminate into our great Carnival Parade each Thursday and Sunday evening when the youngsters show off everything they’ve learned and made.

They tour the village with new friends they’ve made banging their drums, wearing there face masks and street dancing before meeting in the village green for a party with family, friends and other guests before the lighting of the fire sculpture.

The Bluestone Summer Festival culminates in a flamboyant Summer Carnival weekend on the 1st and 2nd September.

Our team have been working with the great people at SWICA (who run the Cardiff Carnival that we sponsored this year) to put on some great carnival capers and activities.

So come along to Bluestone for a great short break and get into the summer festival spirit. And don’t forget, if you book a break here for this August you’ll get a free off peak break. Visit www.bluestonewales.com for more details.
